- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Syrian Armistice. DESCRIPTION: A British column reaches the ancient ruins of Palmyra, they enter in search of snipers. The towns and cities of Syria are once more occupied by the Allies. At the Sydney Smith Barracks, Acre British, Australian and Free French officers await the arrival of Vichy delegates. SHOTLIST: Bren carriers enter the city of Palmyra while troops search for snipers in the Temple of Baal. The Foreign Legion port is pounded by artillery, while the 300 men surrender. On the Aerodrome, aircraft litter the ground these machines are German. Food is brought up and distributed to the inhabitants of the occupied towns. The Australians coastal advance brought them to Damour River, but General de Verdillac presents himself to the British authorities for an Armistice. At the Sydney Smith Barracks at Acre the British await the Vichy delegates. A group is taken with General Catroux, General Lavarack and General Sir Henry Wilson. General Verdillac arrives to sign the Armistice, and in a crowded room the document is signed.
