- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Roosevelt Narrowly Escapes Bullets of Assassin. DESCRIPTION: Fol. US President elect is fired at by Italian American anarchist named Zangara, just as he ends his speech delivered at night from his car to Miami people. Mr Roosevelt escapes uninjured thanks to Mrs Cross who pushed up the revolver, although five were wounded, including the Mayor of Chicago, Mr Cermak. Sub 1. Zangara, since sentenced to 80 years’ imprisonment, is unabashed after his diabolical attempt. SHOTLIST: Elevated shot of Roosevelt speaking from car surrounded by crowd.
