MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mrs Churchill Opens New Hostel. DESCRIPTION: Mrs Churchill visited Shoreditch to open a hostel for husbands and young working people, whose homes have been broken up by the war. SHOTLIST: Mrs Churchill opens a new hostel in Shoreditch for young men and women whose families have been split up owing to the war. Miss Dorothy Dickson presents a cheque for £500, which was part of a sum raised in the US for refugees in Great Britain. The Hostel, which is known as "Friendship House" will hold 60 person.
