MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Fall of Bardia. DESCRIPTION: The shelling of the Libyan coast by air and sea aided the advance of ground troops. British and Australian troops captured the town of Bardia. SHOTLIST: British field guns bombard Bardia while armoured cars, tanks and infantry move up for the final assault. Before the action. Catholics go to mass at sunrise. Tanks are towed up "Hell Fire Pass" to minimise wear on the track, but they go into action afterwards. Free French Troops are among the infantry who cut off all help from Tobruk, and the Australian and British infantry attack and capture the town. Tank traps are filled in to allow our own tanks and armoured units to enter the town. Shots of Bardia town and harbour are included showing the damage wreaked by the Army and Navy. The Australians afterwards change the High Street from "Via Benito Mussolini" to "Via Australia". Navy Bombard Bardia - CARD 40302 A squadron of destroyers and capital ships bombard Bardia from the Mediterranean Sea. Hundreds of tons of shells are poured on the town and harbour.
