- Summary
- At Witney, near Oxford, they went all out for a record ... and got it. On the stroke of 4 am, the fleece started to fly as 150 sheep were denuded of a year’s growth of wool - the object, a race against the clock to make six blankets from sheep’s back to shop showcase during the hours of one day’s daylight. It took some doing. The four stores concerned were in New York, Paris, Milan and London. It took 8 hours, 11 minutes and proved a boost in the export stakes. The blankets headed for three overseas cities with warm wishes from Britain.
