- Summary
- They met in Trafalgar Square - about 10,000 of them - for an anti-American demonstration. They wanted peace in Vietnam. Then, in a surging, road-blocking mass, they marched to Grosvenor Square and the United States Embassy. Their mood was ugly. The police were waiting. They didn’t want trouble, but a hard core in the advancing mob did. It became a bloody riot. What began as a demonstration for peace ended as a war in the heart of London.
