Summary
Electric cars are definitely the thing of the near future. Pathe News took a look at British development in this field. The Ford Comuta, battery driven run-about was put through its paces. And at Tamworth a new breakthrough in this form of transport has been developed by Alistair Carter at his small engineering firm. Mr Carter has designed a compact electric motor which incorporates the braking system and fits into the wheels of the Carter Coaster. Over at Longbridge, BMC don’t intend to be left behind. On the drawing boards, under the masterful eye of Alec Issigonis, a battery driven car is taking shape.
