Career

George Young was a Pathe sound engineer, who was featured escaping from a steer in ‘QUEEN IN NORTHERN TERRITORY’ in Pathe News No.63/25 of April 1963. In June 1963 he appeared in Pathe Pictorial No.442, as the ‘business man’ using the new ‘T.V. TELEPHONE.' Young was also a cameraman, and not only filmed ‘MEET H.M.S. DREADNOUGHT - BRIXHAM’ for Pathe News No.63/74 of September 1963, but also appeared in it, ‘going down hatch into submarine with camera.' In February 1966, credited as ‘Pathe Rota - Young’, he provided footage from Parkhurst prison for ''DETAINED BUT NOT DESTROYED’' in British Movietone News No.1914, and in the same month he was credited for a second Movietone story, ‘CARIBBEAN JOURNEY’ in No.1914A. In January 1967 Young was filmed at Brussels airport, walking across the tarmac ‘carrying a book marked, ‘Pathe News Assignments 1967’,' but this does not seem to have been used by the company. Young is also credited for a few stories in British Movietone News, suggesting that he also did some freelance work. His last credit is for ‘RED ARROWS IN MALTA’ in British Movietone News Number 2106A of October 1969.
