New battleships are launched, the ‘Washington’ and the ‘North Carolina’. Recruiting for the US Army is in full swing. SHOTLIST: The daughter of the Governor Miss Isabel Young Hoey names and launches the 35,000 ton battleship. American Army Recruiting - CARD 39231 The Men sign up and are then measured and given their Medical Examination. They then take the oath and are soon seen marching on the square. USS "Washington" Launched - CARD 39227 Fifteen year old Virginia Marshal christens and launches the 35,000 ton battleship. Various shots as the vessel slips down into the water and after as she is being taken in tow. President Roosevelt Addresses Pan American Congress - CARD 39024 Various lenses on Roosevelt talking about Nazi aggression. President Roosevelt And Committee - CARD 39224 Shots of President Roosevelt sitting at desk before committee. The committee is part of the National Defence Council.
