Summary
Large numbers of German POWs, two of whom seen just after capture are Franz Von Papen and his son. Aerial views of the bombed Thyssen factory in the Ruhr and also the Sterfrade synthetic oil plant, both of which were part of the huge munitions organisation in Germany. Serving these war factories was the biggest inland dock system in Germany linking the Rhine and the Ruhr, another target for RAF Bomber Command. The Ems-Weser canal at the junction of two inland waterways is another example of day and night bombing. The steel empire of Alfred Krupp lays in ruins in Essen, statue of Krupps lies in the debris of the bombed works.
