Summary
American guns open up on the city of Aachen. The Commander of the German Garrison has ignored the ultimatum to surrender or be annihilated. Dive bombers over Aachen add their share of destruction and tanks with infantry in close support move in on the doomed city. Street fighting takes place with GIs using machine guns and automatic weapons. A white flag appears at a window and German POWs walk down street. German civilians also try to make a get-away. A German male civilian tears down Swastika emblem from front door and the emblem lies in the gutter. German family talking to US soldiers.
