Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Tour of Canada - Arrival Home. DESCRIPTION: The Princesses go aboard destroyer; The King and Queen aboard "Empress of Britain" - boat docks. The King and Queen at Southampton; arrival at Waterloo Station. Drive to Buckingham Palace and Balcony scenes. SHOTLIST: AV "Empress of Britain" steams up the Channel. MS Princesses Elizabeth & Margaret board the Destroyer ‘Kempenfeld’ with Lord Cork & Orrery at Portsmouth. LS Princesses welcomed aboard. 2 shots Princesses on deck. MS Princess Elizabeth with binoculars. GV ‘Kempenfeld’ approaches. GV flotilla. GV paddle-steamer. LS ‘Empress of Britain’ & flotilla. GV ‘Empress’ docking. LAS distant King, Queen & Princesses on bridge. BV King, Queen & Princesses on bridge. GV Queen Mary, Princess Royal, Duke & Duchess of Kent & Gloucester board ‘Empress’. TS Royal party walking up gangplank. LAS ‘Empress’. GV King, Queen & Princess Elizabeth down gangplank (NB new Pos ends here). Then the party drives to Southampton’s Civic centre for the town’s welcome. The engine pulls into Waterloo and Princess Alice & Princess Helena Victoria are on the platform with members of the Cabinet. After exchanging greetings, the Party drive through crowd lined streets, past the Houses of Parliament, under Admiralty Arch to the Palace. Here the crowd surges round as the party come out on the Balcony. Very good balcony shot of King, Queen & Princesses. Princess Elizabeth’s hat blows off.
