Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Trooping the Colour - 1939. DESCRIPTION: The Duke of Gloucester, accompanied by the Duke of Kent, takes the salute at the King’s Birthday Parade. Prince Edward of Kent is the centre of attention when the Royal Family appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony. SHOTLIST: Queen Mary drives to the ceremony with Princess Margaret Rose. They take their positions in the balcony to see the Duke of Kent and the Duke of Gloucester ride together onto the square. A drummer boy faints, and after the ceremony, the Duke of Gloucester leads the men back to the Palace. Watching the scene from the balcony were Queen Mary, Duchess of Kent, and Princesses Margaret and Alexandra, and the Prince Edward who endeavours to throw a cushion onto the parade ground during the ceremony. Included in this story was a shot of the Duke of Gloucester taking the salute.
