Launched in 2017, the Migration Museum Project is devoted to shining a light on the many ways that the movement of people to and from Britain across the ages has shaped who we are –as individuals, as communities and as a nation. The website offers a Resource Bank section with advice and ideas for teachers on how to explore the subjects of migration, immigration, emigration, multiculturalism and cultural diversity in the classroom. The site also showcases a small collection of videos and audio material, including poets Musa Okwonga and Hollie McNish performing their poems Migrant Manifesto, and Mathematics respectively.

What is a feminist? This site presents an extensive response to that question in the form of a well-curated oral history archive of the lives of British feminists. The fruit of a Leverhulme funded research initiative, the project’s researchers interviewed 60 feminists who were active in the Women’s Liberation movement in the UK in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
The site features interviews with women arranged around a number of themes, including Activism, Equality and Work, Education, Politics and Legislation, Race, Place and Nation, Sex, Love and Friendship, Bodies, minds and spirits, Family and Children, Changing Cultures and the Arts and Who we Were and Who we Are. The audio clips on this site have been extracted from longer interviews which are available in their entirety at the British Library.
Other resources on the site include Biographies page with profiles of prominent members of the British feminist movement, including academics, writers and broadcasters such as Beatrix Campbell, Sheila Rowbotham and Jenni Murray. An interactive Timeline begins in 1961 and charts the significant social and political events (and legislation) of the times alongside landmark episodes in the women’s movement. The material on this site is a fraction of what was recorded for the project: much more is available at the British Library.

The new home to all the BBC classroom resources, which cover 22 subjects ranging from early years to GCSE. Major cultural events such as Black History Month or Shakespeare Season are also covered. The new site includes: Primary and Secondary Class clips, which are arranged by subject and age group; Live Lessons, half-hour curriculum-linked webcasts for the classroom; School Radio, with resources covering music, dance, history, collective workshop, literacy and maths; Terrific Scientific, which is aimed at encouraging scientific enquiry for Key Stage2; Ten Pieces, the classical music project which aims to open up the world of classical music to 7 to 14-year-old across the UK.

Founded in the United States in 1948, the AES is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. It is an international organisation that serves audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students worldwide by promoting advances in audio and disseminating new knowledge and research. The site offers a wealth of resources, most of which are available to paying members only. They include: Tutorial presentations from conferences and conventions, Oral Histories, and an E-Library which documents the progression of audio research from 1953 to the present day. The UK section of the AES offers some lectures via their YouTube Channel, and reports and recordings of past meetings, which are organised chronologically and go back to 2008.

Founded in 2005, The Resolution Foundation is an award-winning thinktank that conducts authoritative analytical research on living standards in the UK. The website offers free access to reports and statistical data, which could be used as educational resources by students and lecturers of socioeconomics. The idea that the expressive traditions of all local and ethnic cultures should be equally valued was at the heart of musicologist Alan Lomax’s career. His Sound, Photograph and Video collections, which are the legacy of his extensive field research carried out between 1946-1990, can now be accessed online via the Cultural Equity website. Gems include The New Orleans Jazz Interviews (1949), the England and Wales folk songs (1951-1958), blues artist Big Bill Broonzy, Bessie Jones, and Caribbean 1962, just when the British West Indies were on the verge of independence. There are also three YouTube channels: The Alan Lomax Archive, which offers video clips from Lomax’s “American Patchwork” fieldwork (1978-1983), thus far including Mississippi Delta and Hill Country, Appalachia, New Orleans, Cajun Louisiana, Johns Island, SC; The Global Jukebox Channel with 600 recorded language examples collected by Lomax for Parlametrics, his study of speaking style, and the Cultural Equity Channel set up to provide Grenadians at home and in the Diaspora with an interactive online resource for Grenadian folkways and an outlet for cultural feedback.

This project, which is a collaboration between the Internet Archive, George Blood L.P. and the Archive of Contemporary Music, aims to preserve and make available digitised recordings of 78 rpm records. The project invites users to listen to the recordings, but also to help improve the metadata, curate the collections, help with research and to donate more recordings.

This unofficial multimedia online archive features over 10,000 hours of oral arguments (in audio format) from the US Supreme Court, dating back to 1955. The project was started in 1997 by Jerry Goldman, a professor at the Chicago-Kent College of Law. The site’s current incarnation features text, images, video and audio, all designed to clarify and explain the often convoluted and difficult to follow sessions of the court and is an invaluable resource for anyone with an interest in the American legal system.

This site features some of the work being undertaken by a large interdisciplinary study of voice-hearing based at Durham University and supported by the Wellcome Trust. The team includes academic researchers from cognitive neuroscience, English Literature, cultural studies, medical humanities, philosophy, linguistics, psychology, psychiatry and theology. The area of research explores the subjective experience of hearing voices. The site features a series of podcasts and other audio material available in the resources section of the site.

Resource which aims to make the work of Walt Whitman freely available to researchers, scholars and general readers. The Pictures and Sound section of the site includes audio recordings of Professor Eric Forsythe reading ‘Poets to Come’ and the 52 sections of ‘Song of Myself. Also available is audio of a 36 wax cylinder recording, thought to be of Whitman himself, reading four lines of his poem ‘America’.
