Bending the Aging Curve: A Periodized Prescription for Improved Aging

Synopsis
Video recording of a live webinar conducted by Human Kinetics 7 April 2011 April 7th. This is the third in the Raising the Bar series of monthly fitness and health webinars designed for instructing personal trainers, group fitness instructors, and strength and conditioning coaches.

Scientists and clinicians have long seen exercise as key to addressing the decline in health and function that are part of the ageing process. Unfortunately, we do not all age the same way and each of us has his or her unique set of needs that dictate the best exercise intervention. This webinar, based on Dr. Signorile’s book Bending the Aging Curve, looks at how to address the multi-faceted needs of each individual, using functional diagnoses to design targeted exercise programmes. The webinar also shows how to structure a periodized training programme that provides the most effective mix of work and recovery, and explains Dr. Signorile’s concept of translational training as an effective tool to translate physical improvements into improvements in daily living.
