Pig Business

Synopsis
Seasoned eco-warrior Tracy Worcester sets out to discover who is paying the true price for the cheap imported pork for sale in Britain’s supermarkets. Documenting her investigation into intensive pig farming and the damaging impact it is having on the quality of our food, the environment, and the health and welfare of agricultural communities, this film follows her as she infiltrates farms in Europe and America and confronts the biggest firm in the pig business, Smithfield Foods of America. It reveals the dark under belly of the food industry - the impact on those who work in it, those who live near it, those who eat the pork and the impact on the animals themselves. But it also tells the story of what is happening in Eastern Europe following the collapse of communism, as EU tax payers fund multinational companies to take over the old state owned industries.
