Synopsis
Demonstrates techniques used by professional chefs to create and serve food that pleases the eye as well as the taste buds. Presented by two professional chefs who produce a variety of example meals, the programme explores how the way food is presented, is as important as the ingredients. They introduce key concepts to consider when preparing a meal, and demonstrate how each of the elements used can change a boring meal into one that satisfies both the palate and the eye. Planning - An introduction to the five key elements of proper food presentation, including important concepts to consider when planning a menu.

Colour - How thoughtfully considered colour combinations can be a simple and effective way to enhance presentation.

Shape and texture - The chefs reveal how to use these two elements to lend interest to the presentation and excite the palate.

Arranging food - How to properly arrange food to make a meal appear creative and visually appealing. Scale, balance and practicality are covered.

Using garnishes - An insight into the importance of correctly using and placing a garnish to enhance a food arrangement, without overdoing it.

Plating a meal. The importance of choosing the right plate to present and frame the food.
