- Synopsis
- (1978) - Filmed over a period of three months in a Californian prison for 17-21-year-old male offenders where an ostensibly liberal administration is turning young delinquents into institutionalised criminals. Two of the subjects were admitted for three months for minor offences and were still there after three years, repeatedly punished for their lack of cooperation. No amount of pleading in their restricted, expletive-ridden vocabularies can get them released. In despair they fall back upon passive resistance which leaves one boy lying prostrate on a cell floor bound at the ankles and hands behind his back chained to railings. The scenes are presented without commentary.
