Industrial Ergonomics

Synopsis
Good ergonomics in the workplace enables workers to do their job efficiently while poor ergonomics can expose personnel to the risk of injury and ill health. This video will train personnel to be able to identify ergonomic problems and find practical solutions.

The scope of workplace ergonomics covers: posture; movements; use of force to handle objects and loads; nature and weight of loads being handled; layout and conditions of the workplace; organisation of the work. Solutions to ergonomic problems may include: mechanical aids like lifting equipment, scissor lifts, and trolleys
changing the design and/or layout of the workstation or work area so that awkward postures, repetitive movements and forceful actions are eliminated; changing the tools or equipment being used; changing the organisation of the work and the work practices - some examples of this are task rotation so that working postures can be varied and spreading the manual handling tasks out throughout the day
