Valuing Older People’s Lives: New Ways of Working
- Synopsis
- Video-based training pack offering a flexible resource for group-based training in empowerment work, advocacy, quality assurance, diminished responsibility, financial vulnerability, respite care, inheritance, and paying for long-term care. The video is in two parts: 1) a documentary, VALUING PEOPLE’S LIVES, followed by three scripted dramas. The documentary contains four sequences, filmed in different settings, showing attempts either to give older people a voice, or to increase recognition by carers and workers of what older people want, including those with severe communication difficulties, such as dementia. The scripted dramas focus on important aspects of practice which are difficult to film in natural settings.
