- Synopsis
- Veterinary surgeons Stephen Divers and Martin Lawton demonstrate the standard anaesthetic and coeliotomy approach to orchidectomy and ovariectomy in lizards using the green iguana as a model. Surgical correction of pre-ovulatory ova stasis and post-ovulatory egg stasis (egg-binding) are also described. The anaesthetic and surgical techniques will also have obvious applications in a wide range of other pet lizard species where surgical access to the coelomic viscera is required for many other procedures.
