Foul Brood: Its Recognition and Control

Synopsis
Explains the American foul brood (AFB) and European foul brood (EFB) diseases, which are the most serious bacterial infections of brood, or immature-stage, bees, and shows MAFF control measures. Normal development, proper management and principles adopted in examination of a colony of honey bees is followed by a description of the pathogenesis and clinical signs of foul brood. Describes the administration of the Bee Disease order, examination and destruction of a colony with AFB and treatment of a colony with EFB.
