Planning for Renewables
- Synopsis
- The development of renewable energy is being encouraged by creating a protected market under the Non Fossil Fuel Obligation. With developers capitalising on this incentive, local planners must consider a complex range of issues including government energy policy and the impact on local communities and the environment. This film discusses issues involved with planning applications for developing wind and water power, energy from crops and forestry, biogas power and waste combustion. It highlights the environmental assessments and statements that are necessary, as well as the importance of involving the local community at the outset.
