Mony a Pickle

Synopsis
A slightly tongue-in-cheedk comedy on the theme of thrift, which was made for the Scottish Post Office Savings Bank. It is divided into an introduction and five short episodes, the most ambitious of which shows a young couple conjuring up the ‘wee hoose’ of their dreams where a gas cooker replaces the range and they have a kitchenette with lots of new fittings including a brass sink with chromium taps, and they can wash the dishes in the kitchen and themselves in the bathroom and never have to wait their turn at the one sink anymore. There are no technical credits on the film but it is thought that there may have been anything up to five directors (each writing his own episode) including Cavalcanti, Richard Massingham and Norman McLaren. The editor Stewart McAllister is also known to have been involved.
