Management of Resource Centres: Justification and Role

Synopsis
Eight case studies of resource centres at varying degrees of sophistication and at various levels in the educational system. In each case the student is asked to consider what the aims of each centre appear to be and to list the functions which each of them is trying to fulfil. After a summary of the case studies, the module investigates the ways in which resource material can be used in an educational institution, and the implications of these for the organisation of the resource centre. Finally, the possible range of functions of a resource centre is dealt with from both the teachers’ and the students’ point of view.
