Isolation and Purification of Dna

Synopsis
Shows the process of isolating high molecular weight genomic DNA from bacteria. This involves lysis of bacterial cells, dialysis, alcohol precipitation, and spooling DNA onto a glass rod. Then DNA is phenol/chloroform extracted and ethanol precipitated from a restriction enzyme digestion reaction, a very commonly used procedure. Shows microdialysis of DNA and discusses the availability of commercial kits.
