- Description
- An American ship carrying UN forces was not allowed to land at Port-au-Prince on Monday as the UN considers extending economic sanctions against Haiti for not abiding by an agreement to hand back power to the democratically elected president Jean-Bertrand Aristide. As Paul Woodley reports from New York this has created a problem for the Haitians and US President Bill Clinton who doesn’t need another foreign policy crisis with poor opinion polls following peacekeeping mission in Somalia turning violent. Includes speech by Clinton.
