- US President, Bill Clinton addresses the United Nations General Assembly. The USA is to lift its economic sanctions against Haiti, and Clinton calls for the UN to end its trade embargo. He also addresses the problems of Bosnia, following the US proposal to lift the arms embargo against Bosnian Muslims. (Britain, France and Russia all oppose the move).
