Description

The programme Open Line, with presenter George Gale and his guest, English comic actor and comedian, Frankie Howerd, answering callers’ questions on Edward Heath’s election manifesto; golfing terminology; social contracts with employers and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI); Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s concern over inequality in the UK despite being paid a lot of money for his memoirs; Frankie Howerd’s career, and past performances with Lenny Bruce at The Establishment. Includes news bulletins and commercial breaks. Audio slightly distorted at start of clip, which includes Howerd’s conversation with another, unidentified male presenter, who asks him to read out the closing credits (i.e. for a preceding programme).
