- Description
- Former UK Prime Minister Harold Wilson attacks the left wing of the Labour Party. He believes that too much power has been transferred from the parliamentary Labour Party and he mentions the regrettable visit to Bishops Stortford which gave the unions greater power in electing the leader. Labour’s biggest problem now, he says, is the deprivation arising from mass unemployment. Wilson thinks the new leader (Neil Kinnock?) is excellent and says it was a fault of his and James Callaghan’s not to have made him a junior minister. He feels that unless the party makes new and more serious policies that they can all adhere to, Labour’s long-term prospects are poor. Male interviewer not identified.
