Play synopsis

Berlin, 1935. Judith, a Jewish woman married to a non-Jewish man, tells her husband she is leaving him; the reason is that she wants to save his career. She desperately hopes he will stop her, but instead declares that the change of scene will do her good. This was one of Brecht’s early anti-Nazi plays, written when the full horror of the holocaust was yet to unfold.
