Summary
Forces of the First Army sweep down from the Tunisia mountains and outside Kairouan their guns flush out the last pocket of enemy resistance. The entry into Kairouan is greeted with joy by the inhabitants and the remaining German troops are marched off. Earlier the 8th Army had pressed on to Sfax. On entering they are led by the 51st Highland Division Pipers. Montgomery had bet Eisenhower he would take Sfax by April 15th, he did it with four days to spare, and in doing had won the bet and the Flying Fortress which was the prize. He is seen with B19 and driving through Sfax.
