Summary
On the debit side of America’s shipping ledger is the gutting by fire of the transport ship "Wakefield" (formerly the liner "Manhattan"). [49 ft] On the credit side, ship being launched by Henry Kaiser at his shipyard. His shipyard creates all-time construction records. [48 ft] Launching of new aircraft carrier "Lexington" which is christened by Mrs Theodore Robinson who performed the same ceremony 17 years ago on the former carrier. [70 ft]
