Summary
23 Flying Fortress heroes who carried out daylight raids over Europe are decorated by Major General Spaatz with Purple Heart and DFC medals. A long standing tradition is broken when US Brigadier General Ralph Royce is invited to present Wings to young Australian airmen. The tradition is that only an RAAF Officer may present the Wings.
