Summary
By Order of Air Vice Marshal Cunningham, Officers’ Mess in the desert now becomes Pilots’ Mess also. Says Cunningham: "They take the same risks, give ‘em the same comforts". Tailor’s shop in the desert. Blacksmith in the desert. Greta Garbo, Myrna Loy, Mae West and Deanna Durbin, but only in photograph form - in troops’ helmets. Troops in the desert have found that by pouring sea water into a large drum, lighting a fire and letting the steam pass through pipes to condensers where it cools off, they have something like fresh water. Soldiers go fishing but take so long that in the end they open another tin of Bully Beef.
