Summary
Delegates hurriedly leave Unity House for country with their instructions to carry out Triple Alliance’s fateful decision. At Merthyr strikers beat police in football match in aid of Miners Fund. At Abertillery "Jolly Jack" quickly makes friends with the collier folk, and the baby. At Cowdenbeath, Fife, NB traders have had to board up premises after riots by unruly elements. Back to No 10 but after 2 hours discussion Mr JH Thomas despairingly says "I see no hope". Meanwhile the rush to join the Citizens Defence Corps continues. Already the Strike is paralysing industry, particularly shipping. At the 11th hour Mr JH Thomas made dramatic announcement that "Strike is off". Anxious public besiege the news vendors. Destroyers and submarines now protect Cardiff docks.
