Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Coronation of King George VI the Abbey Service. DESCRIPTION: The Service in Westminster Abbey in full. SHOTLIST: Reel 1 - (Timecode starts at 01:29:57:00). GV interior Abbey with Procession moving up Aisle. MS Princess Royal flanked by Princess Elizabeth & Princess Margaret Rose, followed by the Duchesses of Kent & Gloucester. MS Seated Princess Royal with Princesses. GV Queen Mary, GV Dukes of Gloucester & Kent take their seats. TS The Queen’s procession. GV The Queen. TS as Queen is seated & train arranged. BS the King’s Procession (x2). GV King arrives at seat. GV Royal Dukes. LS Auditorium (x2). MS Royal Duchesses. MS King doing homage. TS Crown carried to altar. MS Archbishop giving Coronation oath. Sequence: oath taking. GV King moving to altar for communion. TS the Canopy is moved over the King for the anointing (x3). GV The King dons Colobium Sindonis. TS Queen Mary and Princesses. GV Peers. MS King. TS the Queen. LS Tilt from King to Abbey. MS The King stands and moves from Coronation chair to throne. TS King surrounded by peers. Sequence: Homage to King, first Archbishop then Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Kent. MS The Queen. TS the Queen moves to Altar (x2). MS The Queen kneels before altar and is crowned. MS Queen Mary and Princesses. GV Archbishop hands to Queen sceptre and ivory rod. GV The Queen rises and moves from altar. TS As she curtsies and takes throne next to King. GV Interior Abbey. MS Royal Duchesses. TS As King & Queen leave thrones and move into St Edward’s Chapel. Sequence: Queen reappears & her procession forms and moves out of Abbey. Sequence: The Kings procession. MS The Princesses & Queen Mary in Procession. TS Procession. (The King’s voice is heard over the end shot).
