Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Two Launchings and Power and Prestige to Royal Navy. DESCRIPTION: Two launchings add power and prestige to British Navy. The first is the Cruiser ‘Manchester’ and secondly the Aircraft Carrier ‘Ark Royal’. Lady Hoare, wife of the First Sea Lord, has trouble smashing the bottle to launch ‘Ark Royal’. SHOTLIST: Shots of the HMS Hood. Cruiser Manchester being launched. Slides down slipway. Launching of the ‘Ark Royal’. Lady Hoare performs the ceremony. The ship slides down slipway. (Has difficulty smashing bottle).
