Summary
Babcock and Wilcox synopsis: This item tells briefly the story of a visit to the Company’s head office in London, by a group of 4 men from the Renfrew Works, as part of a regular scheme for reciprocal visits by employees from London and Renfrew. The visit is described in a personal, friendly way as seen through the eyes of the men. The party meets informally the heads of various departments, including the General Sales Manager, who gives them a general picture of the work of the London offices, and then visit some of the engineering departments and drawing offices to see work in progress. They meet Sir Kenneth Hague, Managing Director, who chats to them about Babcock affairs, and later visit a power station to see Babcock boiler plant in operation and being installed.
Light relief is provided by a sightseeing tour in London with Mr. H. T. Banyard (Editor of "The Circulator" the Babcock House journal) and a hearty meal at the Old Bell Tavern. The men return to Renfrew with a wider understanding of the Company’s operations as a whole.
