Summary
The March of Time synopsis: The film shows the development of the new Palestine since 1917, when it was established as the only national home for the Jewish people, to the present day.

Graphically presented is the Zionist demand for abrogation of the 1939 British White Paper, which limited immigration into Palestine, and for the establishment of an independent Jewish State. The Jewish leaders point out their accomplishments in Palestine - reclamation of land, irrigation, malaria controls, cultural achievements, medical and hospital care available to Jews and Arabs alike, and industrial development. Representing the Jewish people in the development of their national home, is the Jewish Agency, in which are centralized the administrative and executive functions of the community. Modern industries have been encouraged, great hospitals and fine schools and universities have been built, and already a thousand acres of once arid land have been restored to fertility, from which now over thirty per cent of the Jewish population make their living. Most of Palestine’s agricultural workers live in the co-operative settlements, where all work is divided and assigned by an elected committee, whose members must take into account the age and strength of the colonists before allotting them their daily chores. As a result of this programme of training, careful planning and hard work, the production of food by Jews in Palestine has been almost doubled in the last five years. Side by side with the Jewish population, the Arabs - outnumbering them two to one - live in their immemorial manner. Nomads for the most part, the Arabs have in recent years been coming into Palestine in increasing numbers, for the high wages they earn working on the Jewish owned farms and plantations bring them a new and welcome prosperity. And, says the film, not only has the working class Arab profited by the presence of the Jews in Palestine, but to many an Arab property owner wealth and pleasant living have come from the sale of his land to the immigrants. And the film shows that today, while the Jews consider Palestine their homeland and logically the only hope of the European Jews for a state of their own, the Arabs are equally determined that the entry of Jewish refugees must cease and Palestine remain Arab.
