Summary
The March of Time synopsis: The million missing men and women in the United States make a never-ending story, and the March of Time has gone into the absorbing problem which is a continuous concern to private and public agencies. Aside from the amnesia victim, who wanders from home with no conscious will, a missing person is reported every sixteen minutes to New York’s Missing Persons Bureau. There Captain John Stein supervises a far-flung search which may bring results in a few hours or may continue futilely for years. Fearful of notoriety, many families prefer to have their missing person sought by a private agency rather than by the police. Outstanding among such private organizations is the Skip Tracers Company, headed by Daniel Eisenberg who has managed to track down 150,000 persons in fourteen years. The March of Time goes along with Detective Eisenberg in a missing person case, takes up the trail which finally leads to a successful conclusion, with a startling snap. Growing interest in missing relatives has led to a successful human interest programme on the radio, which appeals to the almost universal desire to discover that one has fallen heir to the fortune of a long-lost relative. But though the search goes on by radio and press, the March of Time discloses that of the million reported missing every year, over 150,000 are never found.
