- Summary
- The March of Time synopsis: A new and exciting aspect of the work of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation is revealed in the dramatic sequences of the latest March of Time film, G-MEN COMBAT SABOTEURS. In a comprehensive picture of the training and work of the F.B.I.'s staff of laboratory experts and its 2,000 special agents, the March of Time shows how these famous G-men are today preventing and fighting espionage and sabotage in America’s defence industries, and are thus proving themselves a vital arm of national defence. The March of Time points out that the excellent record of Edgar J. Hoover and his able staff of G-men in checking kidnapping and crime is already known throughout the world. The film then goes on to show that the F.B.I.'s modern scientific methods of crime detection, patiently developed during the past decade, are now being employed to ensure internal security against spies, saboteurs and subversive elements.
The film then depicts the "Stuart Case" - a typical but hypothetical instance of espionage involving burglary and murder in a factory working on defence orders. Taken from the files of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, the "Stuart Case" has been reconstructed with actual G-men playing their real-life roles in the film. The sequence vividly illustrates the painstaking methods of the F.B.I. in assembling, analysing and piecing together the bits of evidence necessary to find and convict the nation’s internal enemies. Made with the full co-operation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, G-MEN COMBAT SABOTEURS ends with a determined speech made by Edgar J. Hoover, chief of all America’s G-men, and succeeds in being one of the most unusual and entertaining subjects the March of Time has yet produced. - Researcher Comments
