Summary

Rhodesian Spotlight Commentary - It’s a red letter day for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Salisbury as their new Clinic is opened. Until recently, of all human afflictions, Cerebral Palsy was accorded the least understanding, sympathy and assistance - but that fortunately is a thing of the past and in clinics like this, the limited powers the children have, are carefully nurtured and developed. With infinite patience the wee mites are taught to co-ordinate.
Palsy is not a disease, it is due to infantile brain injury. Roundabout methods have to awaken the translation of intentions into action which is instantaneous and natural in normal youngsters. For instance, they have to learn to blow before they can be taught to speak properly. The object is to allow these stricken children to fit into the world around them. Toys teach them to unlace shoes and undo buttons - which is really training in dressing and undressing. These kids really need help and a big bouquet goes to all who render it.
