- Summary
- BFI synopsis: Looks at the problems of housing and growing population in Britain, and the styles of building being adopted to help the situation in the future, namely by high rise blocks of flats. New blocks of flats and their facilities are looked at in Bristol, with comments by Dr. John Skone, Deputy Medical Officer of Health for Bristol, and two tenants, Mr Clive Baker and his wife. Features such as lifts, laundry facilities, central heating and safety catches on windows are considered. Other aspects include garages, open spaces, community rooms, playgrounds etc. Flats which overlook Bristol City football ground are also seen. Developments in London are also considered, including Balfron Tower in Poplar, the latest and tallest block of flats in London, designed by Erno Goldfinger. He lives on the 26th floor of this block and is interviewed.
