Summary
BFI synopsis: An underground view of Britain’s only active salt mine at Meadowbank in Cheshire producing rock salt, used for clearing icy roads, as a fertiliser for sugar beet and also for medical treatment in spas all over Europe. This and Cheshire’s rich salt beds supply all Britain’s needs and export annually over a quarter of a million tons.
