- Summary
- NFA Summary - constructing a bridge over the Karun River in Western Iran.
BP synopsis: Running through South Western Persia is the river Karoun. It has always been a problem because it swells up in winter. Traditionally the locals used rafts made of sticks, but in 1945, a cable car bridge was developed. It was slow and needed a lot of repair, but as the oil fields were on the plains it became essential to have a permanent road bridge. It was rested on four stone piers with two cable cars to move material and people. Shots of people working on the bridge, hanging from a cable car and walking across the girders with no safety ropes and a swelling river beneath them. After this there is an extended montage of images of people working. Then a lorry drives over the bridge, which is open to everyone at last. - Keywords
