Summary
NoS synopsis: A faceworker, Harry Haines, at Donisthorpe Colliery writes poems of his experiences down the pit.
NCB Commentary - 20 years as a faceworker at Donisthorpe Colliery has not dimmed Harry Haine’s delight in making poetry.
Harry Haines writes out of his own experience, and people come to listen and to share. At the Bull’s Head in Ashby, poetry reading sessions are now a pattern of the pub.
From out of the ruins of Ashby Castle are strung together a skein of verse which will enthrall the listeners back at the Bull’s Head.
Mining men are of manifold talent. From out of the depths of Harry Haine’s intellect and emotion come words which touch the ordinary listener - and make him want to listen.
