Summary
BFI synopsis: increased production by the miners of Kent’s four pits, which are producing one-third more coal than before
NCB Commentary - For years the four collieries of the Kent Coalfield - valuable if only because so near to London - have indeed had a funny reputation ...
... for high costs and inefficiency
... too many men producing too little coal.
But now the laugh is on the other side.
The last twelve months have seem a transformation.
Every month is now producing one-third more coal than before.
Through out the new pits they are determined that this sort of bad joke must become a thing of the past.
Kent is reorganising itself to beat the best in Britain.
