- Summary
- BFI synopsis: miners’ training centre.
Partial NCB Commentary - Tubs have a habit of going off the rails. There is a wrong way and a right way to set them back on their wheels again. Instructor Reg Egan knows what’s what.
Back on the surface they use film as one of the ways of teaching boys the why and wherefore of mining. Meanwhile 75-year-old Charlie Annable stands by at the real pit-shaft which is still used for pumping.
Down below in the Flockton Seam they hope to be training boys during the coming year. New winding gear is being installed to carry out this plan.
At Newton Hill they have many plans for the future. Mr. Netherwood the training organiser looks over the freshly cleared site for a new Central Repair Workshop. It is good to have something to look forward to as well as something to fall back on. - Researcher Comments
