Summary
NoS Summary - Retrospective look at some early flying machines.
British Pathe synopsis: "Ever since Icarus tried his hand at flying, Adam has tried (and died) to evolve the one-man-power flying machine. Here’s one idea -" Short shot of an old fashioned flying machine with wings that flap backwards and forwards. "Whether it ever flew we know not, but here is another bird machine - rather more promising looking" Dark shot of a large flying machine silhouetted against an evening sky. It looks like a strange bird. M/S of two men on a beach showing how another strange flying contraption works. Strings are pulled to move the wings. C/U of a man pulling the strings. "Now or never!" Dark shot of plane being pulled along the beach. The wings are moved but it doesn’t take off. In fact it crashes into the sand without getting airborne.
